How do you write a locum shift posting that doctors accept?

A good posting gives the date, the exact hours, the department, what the doctor is expected to cover, the rate, and who to ask for. Clear postings get accepted faster than vague ones.

The five things every posting needs

The date and the exact start and end time. The department or ward. What the doctor will cover, for example casualty only or casualty and wards. The rate for the whole shift. And where to report and who to ask for.

Be specific about the work

Say whether the shift includes on-call hours at home or only time on site, and whether a nurse or junior doctor will be with the doctor. Doctors weigh a night shift very differently when they know the support available.

Keep contact details out of the posting

A posting should describe the shift, not hand out phone numbers or links. Rounds does not allow phone numbers, emails or links in a shift description, and shows contact details to both sides only after a doctor accepts.

Raise the rate if nobody accepts

If a shift stays open, check the details first. If they are clear, raising the rate is the quickest fix; on Rounds a hospital can raise the rate on an unfilled shift, and the doctors who match are told again.
